Bar Placement Is the Difference-Maker on Incline Press.

Where you bring the bar down on your chest during incline bench will determine where you feel it.

Coach Malek is breaking down a small tweak that changes everything on incline bench — where you bring the bar down.

According to Coach Malek, bar path comes down to what you're training for. Lower the bar toward the bottom of the chest, and you unlock more raw power — the setup that lets you move the most weight. But if the goal is a deeper contraction and a true squeeze through the upper chest, the bar should come down higher, landing just below the collarbones.

The tip traces back to Antonio, known on Instagram as @Fithitta, who Coach Malek credits with the cue: bring it low for power, bring it high, just under the collarbone, for the squeeze.

Exercise two on the list: dips. Machine-assisted or bodyweight, the equipment matters less than the tempo. The rule is simple — control the descent, drive the ascent. Come down slow, push up fast.

Two cues, one session: dial in your bar path based on your goal, and let tempo do the work on dips.
